See how his eyes got smaller? Or whatever.. Why does this happen? His eyes are usually entirely black.

That's his eye socket covering. :) When he rotates his eyes to look around, it shows a bit. Perfectly normal.

i'd had bettas for nearly six months before i noticed their eyes could swivel like human eyes. i had always been under the impression they were stationary like shark or snake eyes.

I love how their eyes move...when Perseus looks at me and I see those eyes moving it just melts my heart, I just want to kiss him on his little fishie nose !

Oh yes - Chicory hangs out at the front of his tank watching me most of the day. I see his attention wander to different things, the plants, the snail, his hidey hole log, etc. And when he notices me watching him, he dances! I can tell he sees because he will be chilling on a plant, or resting at the front of his log with his fins still. When he notices me looking at him, the fins start, and if I lean over that way, I get a dance (And then he usually gets a treat - mutual training!)
