Trips over himself/sickly

My Betta, Roy, had a really bad case of fin rot and cloudy eye when I got him and he's finally off the medication.
The only thing is whenever he swims, one of his side fins goes really fast and the other one barely moves. And they he seems to trip over himself, like he can't get his back fin to work so he seems to flop over to one side a lot and have the fins cover the front of him. Then sometimes he bends in on himself and just floats there for a couple of minutes. He also doesn't react really quickly to my movements. I waved my hand to him at different speeds so he could react and he didn't even swim away when I waved extremely fast.
It's definitely not normal behavior, he's a ton better after the medication but this is different from how he was acting when he was extremely sick... I just need to figure out why he's "flopping around" like this.

What were you medicating him with? What temp is his tank at now? I would first off make sure you have some places for him to "rest" near the top of his water so he can take a break and can swim up for air easier!

His tank is at 73 right now (a little low but I just did a water change. the heater takes a little while to heat up the whole tank)
I medicated him with API fungus medication (for mouth fungus, cloudy eye, and fin rot)

will do that :)

Sometimes temp fluctuation can cause them to go into shock a little bit, so once you have it at a better temperature for a while keep an eye on him and see how he's doing. Could be a little bit of lethargy as well from the cooler water!

He was doing this before I changed the water though.

Well for what I can tell you, and if you don't see any improvement you may want to pm OFL to see if she has any advice, just keep the water warm and clean for now and go from there. Bettas are pretty resilient, clean warm water can work miracles in a lot of cases!

just for future reference, the water you change in should be the same temperature as the tank water. you can fine tune the water from your tap until the temperature is the same, then perform a water change.

medicine is esentially meant to be toxic enough to kill whatever is ailing your fish, without killing the fish. but it IS toxic, an could have side effects.

Give him a warm stable environment 78-82F
and god clean water. See if he will improve. Sounds like he had a stroke or something...

if possible please inform us of the tank size and WC schedule.
