Bettas Vs. Fingers

So I decided to test something out that my friend talked to me about yesterday. She said her betta flared at her finger. None of mine ever did, so I was a bit curious. So I decided to put my finger by the tank WITHOUT them seeing me. I put my face above the tank and kept my finger moving so that they focused ONLY on my finger.

Buddha flared immediately. He bolted to the edge of the tank and tried to tackle my finger, it looked like. Pudge just swan around cautiously. He hasn't flared AT ALL since about 2 weeks ago, so I wasn't expecting much from him. And Squirt flared, then swam away, never coming back to the very edge of the tank, but rather stayed a good inch or two away.

I've never had my bettas flare at my finger, but I have been bitten before. The teeth are so small that it doesn't hurt, just a suprise.

I don't think I want to get bitten xD
I do sometimes put my finger in the tank to let them follow, but the one time Buddha abruptly bit me and it scared me so much I almost knocked the tank down.

The first time Shiny flared it was at my finger. lol.
Fishie has flared at my finger before, but usually he either backs up really fast when I put my finger on the tank or he stays a certain distance from it and wiggles his butt. hehe
