Hello! My name is Desiree, and I'm obsessed with bettas. I've been having them since I was younger, and generally didn't take care of them well back then, but now I'm ready to really love them.

In history, I have had 6 male bettas, all from the local Petco store. 3 pulled houdinis, 2 became cat toys, and my last one died because I didn't realize the water I was putting in his tank had some bad chemicals in it. :(

Cried every time over those fish. I loved them so much<3

So yeah, the next betta I'm getting won't be from Petco, I'm getting him from a breeder in Thailand. It'll be around $30 plus shipping, but he'll be worth it(: How do you feel about international breeders? Are they okay?

Each breeder is different, you should research them first before you buy anything. Most will make you agree to a list of rules you need to agree to before they'll sell you anything.

I would search the auctions for at least 2 weeks before I would decide on a betta. There's nothing worse than buying one impulsively and then seeing another betta that you wanted hit the market the next day.

I would recommend you shop the US breeders first.
