I'm going to let my daughter take over my account here so I'm going to let her introduce herself.

Hi everyone,

I have just started to keep fish about 3 weeks ago. I've had some trouble keeping my bettas having lost one in the last 3 weeks where my brother has lost two and mom decided that was enough for him.

We bought our fish 2 gallon aqueon mini bows to keep them in. I started out with a blue veil tail and he passed away. His name was Escaper. Mom then got another betta for me from a different pet store and we are having a whole lot of better luck with him. He is red, turquoise and a pinkish purple color (I call it a candy color). I have named him Rainbow due to all the colors.

The bettas were my birthday present which was the 24th of this month. Mom and dad said that it was my responsibility to decorate my tank with my allowance, so now it's time to start buying decorations and plants for the tank I will appreciate an idea on maybe some good artificial plants for my tank, just remember it's a small tank.

Welcome..The only advice I have so far is go for silk plants, plastic may have sharp edges that can catch the betta's fins and rip them.

Hello and Welcome, glad you are here to learn all the wonderful things about bettas and how to take care of them, In regards to plants, silk, or real are best, there are a few plastic ones that you could use, but you would have to test them first, if they feel pointy, or catch on a sweater or something not good, (there is a pantyhose test) that works well, and if you rub your hand against any plastic plant with the hose, and it snags, opt for all silk")


Also you betta will appreciate something to hide in, a cave preferably, for rest and sleep, there is a great Betta Floating Log, that bettas love, It is fairly big, might be too big for a 2 gal, but you could take some measurements to check..Happy betta keeping.Look foward to seeing some pictures of the pretty boy you have, Is he also a Veiltail?
