Since its a virus-it has to run its course and not a lot you can do other than prevent a secondary infection from maintain water quality and good nutrition-As long as the growth doesn't impede on daily living it rarely is fatal.
It can be passed to other fish, however, the other fish usually will have to be immune compromised and/or eat the spores and/or have an open wound-Just make good water changes with vacuum on a regular bases and its best to QT the infected Betta until its resolved-it can take 10 weeks or better for it to run its course....
Thanks OFL..yeah, I googled it last night, but as you said it's hard to tell exactly what it looks like, he never stops moving! Dang, he has been in the divided tank since yesterday...I'm move him back to his bowl, but I'm wondering after 24 hours if Brady hasn't already been exposed..sigh. The one thing I was worried about with the divided tank.
