Suspected columnaris in community tank

I suspect my community take is getting columnaris. How can I treat them? I can't get any medicine until about Tuesday.

I guess Aq salt and lowered temps for now :(
but it really should be treated asap...

I have AQS and the temp is at 75

and maybe separate each individual one to give the healthier ones more of a fighting chance whilst treating individually. not sure if that is a viable option.

The weird thing is, I don't think it's columnaris anymore. Itr shouldn't have wiped them out that quick and leave my platies unaffected

Better off with super salt dips. Bettas can take a lot of salt and won't keel over like other fish do. Might try 1 tsp in a gallon. Put the fish in and stick around and watch. Can do 30 minute dips several times a day. You will find bettas can easily take double that. But again.. stay right there and watch them. If they show distress remove. Then put back in clean fresh water. Oxolinic acid in food is good for columnaris.

Peroxide will take it out too but care must be used as you CAN kill the fish. I keep mine in a net but lay the fish out. With cottom swab dipped in the peroxide gently dab on the columnaris. Keep out of eyes and gills. give it a second or two to bubble and boil then put fish into clear water. This stuff eats the hide off the fish so again, be careful and have EVERYTHING laid and and ready. Do not combine with the salt.. salt in wounds burns. And water conditions is a cause of the columnaris so extra care in keeping water pristine.

try the super salt dips 3x day if you can. And see if you can get the oxolinic acid. Can mix up some in water and add some of your pellets.., just enough med mix to slightly cover the pellets. Spread flat and allow to air dry.

Not a big fan of this place to get meds.. the "Dr" is kinda a joke. I had some bacteria tearing up fins and asked him for advide and he said rats were eating my fins.. no joke there. But.. gives you an idea of the med and you can look for it elsewhere.

1tbsp or 1 tsp?
