My pH level is 8.0 ppm.

Hi, I'm in the process of fishless cycling my tank atm. I just tested my ammonia level today and it read to be 8.0ppm.

My question is, is that too high for the tank to cycle atm, if so, should i do a water change?

I have no nitrites or nitrates growing yet.

I started the cycling a week and a half ago.

I think that's a little too high, I remember reading a few posts about the same question and generally a good range is about 2-4 ppm I believe. A lot of people say any more than that can slow down the cycle.
