MY first Spawn

I got so excited to see them embrace and now I see the egg's in the nest!

Very easy to breed, next is taking care of the fry. Hope they hatch faster.


Should I feed the dad? or fast him till fries can swim?

I just got my Cambodian CT (Female) and my Red Dragon plakat (Male).

Though I'm finding a pure strain/gene to breed the Red Dragon With.

What is the best Combination with my Red Dragon it didn't come with a pair cause my friend( Local Betta Breeder) sold me it without a pair though he had dozen's of female (random strain).

Though I'll wait a month for the red dragon to get conditioned.

Now what will be my next step since the egg's are present?

You will need live food like infanfuansa remove the male in a bit not to be mean but you should of prepared for he fish fry first sponge filters encourage the live food they eat how big is the tank Marimo and anarchis are good too hiding spots oxygen cleaning also the air above the tank has too be warm for the frys labyrinth so plastic rap above.

I feed my male before, during and after..same with my light.....I turn if off at night.

Some males won't eat when they have eggs/fry to tend to, if you are using the standard bare bottom half full of water method-I wouldn't feed- since if he refuses to eat- the food can foul the water unless you have a mass amount of live plants and some common snails in the tank.
You really want to limit doing anything in the tank-since this can stress some males and cause them to eat their eggs/fry.

Personally, I like to keep my temp at 80F-so that I don't get too slow or too fast development that can result in weak fry.

Since I use a natural method to spawn and rear fry-I don't feed right away-depending on how mature your tank, if you have live plants and common snails-all of which can help colonize microorganism for free range fry food. You should have live food ready to feed at least by the time they are free swimming-on or about day 3-4 from hatching.

Since the eggs can be hour or more different in age-the eggs don't always hatch at the same time. In the fish world an hour difference can be a big difference.

Next time please prepare ahead of time also live plants sponge filters take the male out when they move away from the nest do not feed the male for a bit.

Let him do his job and Don't feed the male. Dont need ammonia spikes. Two days after eggs hatch fry free swimming. You should have vinegar eels or bbs for them to eat on that day. Remove the male and feed him a little often to get digestion working again. Fry will need water changes even this early. An airline tube in a fish net will siphon water out and kep fry in. Just be careful they don't get sucke up against the net. Then run the siphon with fresh water back in. I do 90% water changes daily. Ammonia will go to a 1 in 24 hours.. maybe slightly longer if you have a bigger tank than I do.. but point is it gets toxic quick. Micro worms are good also at this time. I feed the worms in the am and the bbs in the evening.

As for best cross depends what you are after as the result of the cross.
