If there's nothing on him or stringy white poo then that's normal.

Oh, I use a flashlight to help me locate anything else unusual. Buddha is dark like Dedede so I have to use a flashlight to see if there's anything up with him. Otherwise any ick or velvet will go unnoticed.

It could be possible it's nothing. Do you have anything in your tank that he could have bumped against to lose scales?

I don't have a flashlight, but I'm gonna go get one... my last one keeps needing TONS of batteries!

and I don't have anything but King Dedede and water in the tank... I still see him moving in jerky movements... to this day

so... confused...

Is there any white fuzzy stuff near the missing scales?

also, since 1 gallon isn't very big - maybe the jerky movement is because he can't really swim too far? The 1 gallon I have is a triangle shape and there really is not much room for horizontal swimming. When I do use it, the betta usually just swims back and forth, back and forth...
is it like he is having seizures?

also when you get the flashlight, look for something that looks like gold dust on him. Its a parasite called velvet but you usually cant see it unless a light is shined on them
