New tank design.

Okay so right now my fish are sick but sometime after they get a better I was thinking on reduing the tank. I was thinking replaceing the gravel with sand and getting some live plants. What time of plants do you think I should get and what do you think of this idea? Should I get the sand or stick to gravel?

I think it dipends on your tank size and if theres a filter and such,

Personally i think sand is a bother. it gets sucked up a gravel vacumm so suckish tank cleaning, plants do just fine in gravel

I just started getting new plants and i have anubias and i love it and my bettas do to!

I also have water whisteria which is good for water quality.

Also amazon sword is easy as well.

I like the look of sand over gravel but it can be a pain if the tank is divided as the vaccume will suck up the sand if you get to close to the dividers.

It's more of a personal preference. I think gravel is ok but for both you should add plant suppliments

I have sand in two tanks, and gravel in three. I think the sand is actually nicer looking, and I haven't found it difficult to clean - you just stir the water with the gravel vac so the debris will float and vacuum it up.
