2.5 gallon tank without filter and plants?

Hello,

I set up a bowl that's just over a 2 gallon capacity, with some stone, and weed plants. The weed plants gave off a lot of dead pine needle leaves at the bottom.

No betta is in the tank yet. Will a betta thrive in this bowl?

No filter, 50% water changes every 3 days, and 100% every 7 days. I use API tap water conditioner. I live in the Caribbean, no need for heater.

is the plant aquatic? If so then yes a betta would be fine and I believe do well I know you live in a warm area but I would still get a thermometer just to keep track of the temp. And despite what some may say a 2g is just fine I keep a few betta's in 1 gallons and 1 in a 2 gallon.

Weed plants? what exactly is that? do you have a picture?

This sounds like a good set up given your room temp is at leasy 76* F. Also, with a bowl, be sure to put something to cover the top (with holes poked in it, of course). Bettas are known to jump out of anything uncovered.

I have my female betta in a 2.5g with no filter...she doesn't need a heater yet either because it is still hot here. I have river stones, a cave to hide in and some fake plants for her...she loves her home, and is thriving! I do one 50% and one 100% a week.

Oh, and plastic CD covers work well with round bowls, or in the case of my 2.5 I made a top that fit exactly just using CD cases. This is the cover I made.

thanks aokashi! I was really surprised how easy it was, and how well it fit. You can also adjust the center part to fit a filter if you want. It has worked really well.

Ok, I'll source a thermometer. It's comforting to know that you keep bettas in that size tank. The water changes are what I've come to know are very important.

I got a wonderful half moon betta. I realized it was spitting out its food, because today is the day for 100% water change and tank cleaning.

A lot of us use Seachem Prime. Because so little is needed (2drops/gal) it's a good value.
