Dylon hand dye?

I hope this isn't too random, but does anyone know how to use dylon hand dyes? I'm trying to tie dye some clothes, but the dye keeps running out!
I hear rumors about salt and hot water...

Can anyone set me straight? The Internet can't give me a direct answer and the dylon website isn't very helpful.
Also if anyones got any advice or tips on dying or know a good method to set up, that'd be greatly appreciated as well. :)

Dylon is really bad, it's maybe one step above using Rit dye.. try Procion MX (you need soda ash too). It's really the preferred dye for tie dye... it's vibrant and won't fade over time.

I already have the dyes... Someone gave them to me. And evidently they didn't come with instructions. :/
Hm, I'll remember those dyes you mentioned for the future though. :)

Gosh, it has been about 40 years since I tie dyed anything, and we always used Rit Dye...they do have good instructions though..here is the link.

Will it work the same as dylon?

Dylon is a great dye! I used it to dye organic bamboo velour.
Are you using 100% natural cloth? If not, the dye won't catch.
If so, then you are good, and yes you need the salt for the dye to catch. I remember reading on the package and the website on the step by step instructions. I dyed the fabric a special way though, it's called LWI. I like the effect. The dye hasn't faded or washed out.

Now, if you have unnatural fibers or blends, the dye is less likely to catch and you need dye for that. idye poly is for polyester (which is basically plastic). If you have a blend (like cotton poly) then you'll need idye natural too.
