Just put my 9 girls in their new home (20 gallon long) some fighting, but seems to be going better than i expected!! It was so nerve wracking!!

If anyone has suggestions or experience with feeding these girls please let me know, im afraid its going to be a rough few days to begin with.

Some of them might prefer not to come up to the surface to eat. I have some that would rather pick food off the driftwood and plants, altho they do make a beeline for the surface on brine shrimp day

What I do is turn off the filter and use 2 hands, putting a few pellets on the left and a few on the right. That way you separate the hungry hoards

I try to keep a count on how many pellets go to each fish. It's hard but you have to try and not over feed.

Some of the girls will be more gluttonous than others so it will be easy to count how many they get.

Don't forget to turn the filter back on (like I sometimes do)

Thanks! Feeding didn't go too bad, but i noticed a few of them have some tore up fins :( any siggestions for helping them? I feel terrible!

Unless you have one or 2 that refuse to settle down they should all get a little more mellow as time passes. The fins will heal.

Thanks, i made sure to really plant the tank, but maybe ill pick up a few more. And everything i read said give them hidey holes like terra cotta pots, i have a few things similar and i haven't seen anyone interested in them :/

I have heard that girls like to hide in plants more! But, it just might depend on the girl.

Only 2 of my 6 like to hide, the rest patrol.

Im noticing that now, most of them just swim swim swim! :) they're all still alive today! And feeding went pretty well.
