So Sad :C [no deaths!]

So this morning I got up and went to say Hello to Ciroc and give him a treat I noticed he is missing a HUGE! chunk out of his tail :/
I have no idea how this happened, I don't have anything close to sharp in his aquarium and he was perfect last night. I feel so bad for him and the fact I've been using the wrong sand and it could possibly hurt him. I feel like a bad betta owner :'/

He probably bit off part of his tail due to boredom or stress. Warm, clean water and stress coat should do the trick. :)

it's not your fault. :B bettas tail bite for many reasons. usually stress related. it's NOT your fault. even a betta taken amazing care of may tail bite. :V all you can do is keep his water clean to help keep infection away, and try and figure out why he did it. :V

what size is his tank?
do you have a lot of plants, or not a lot?
can he see any other bettas?
is his tank heated?

He is in a divided 5 gallon. I rescued a female recently and had to divide it temporarily. I just added some plants and bulbs. They are supposedly water wisteria but some are different than others and the bulbs are water lily, aponogeton[sp?] and water onion.
His tank is heated. It's 84 right now. Is that too high? I can't adjust the temps so, if it is too high should turn it off sometimes?

The female may be stressing him. I would remove her as soon as you can. 80F is a stable temp for adult bettas .

That's what I was assuming.
Do you think she would be okay in less than 1 gal. till tomorrow evening?
I'm going to get her her own 5 gal if I can find a spot for it[ if not it will have to be a 2.5-3 gal] and the right sand.

I'm guessing this is the right stuff? It's in the fish section at walmart. I should have got it when I was going to but didn't think it was the right kind -.-

StressCoat is a slime coat ... conditioner? enhancer? Stresscoat+ is that plus your water conditioner. It's what I use!

That's all it is? Hmmm, pretty simple. I'll get some when I got to Walmart tomorrow.

Is there Anything else betta wise you would recommend getting?
I'm already getting some sand and another aquarium for Hpnotic[female]
[5 gallon if I can find room for it] and maybe some more bulbs
