I purchased a black mystery snail.
Could I add a zebra snail without getting babies?

Yes.
They're different snails. Nerites need brackish water to make 'babies' and both species need a male and female to reproduce. But they won't do it together.

Fair warning. IF you have a female slave it is possible that she was already impregnanted. They can carry viable sperm anywhere from 6 to 12 months.

The good news, if you find an egg clutch you can simply remove and destroy it. Freeze for two days and chuck the remains. Apples/mystery snails should never be released into the wild, or even their eggs unless quite taken care of.

I will keep that in mind, and I will dispose of them correctly.

Wow I did not know that. So can they carry fertilized eggs? Or just lay them? I hear some nerites will lay eggs in freshwater but they will never hatch/survive

6-12 months? That is interesting. I got a black mystery snail a couple of weeks ago, and recently I started seeing these little bubble clusters in the shape of a crescent moon on the front of the aquarium. I suspected they were eggs, but wasn't sure. Guess I'll keep up with removing them

I am actually keeping my black mystery snail I got yesterday with my nerite until my NPT has a heater. LOL They get on fine.
