My church has a betta in a classroom. i rescued it last summer - they had it in a tiny tiny jar, cloudy and slimy. I brought it back when school started again in a much bigger bowl, with a plant, appropriate food, and thorough instructions. The teacher was very appreciative. she did not take poor care on purpose, she did what she thought (or was told by wherever she bought it) was right. the fish is now happy, healthy, getting weekly water changes, lots of attention and love. i dont worry about heat cause they keep the school sweltering - so, a happy ending, an educated teacher, and i get to babysit that fine fishy during the holidays and summer vacation!!!
