Spring water is often enriched with a ridiculous amount of minerals.. I think you guys are thinking distilled water.

I too used to use spring water in my tanks, but API and Seachem both make great water conditioners that only require a few drops depending on your tank size and the cost of the conditioner to use with the tap water really cuts down on the amount of money I have to spend. (Budgets, sigh.) I was also using stress coat as a conditioner and then lost two snails and a pleco because it wasn't conditioning out the copper/heavy metals. How my Bettas survived, I don't know, but I'm thankful they did, and have since swapped over to API Tap Water Conditioner.
