The reason why people get my name wrong is because I start to spell it and once I get as far as K-A-T they assume my name is Kathrine, Katlain, Kathline, Kate, and Katarina. No one guessed Katrina before Hurricane Katrina. Now I get, "Like the hurricane?" when I'm asked how to spell my name. It bugs be becaues I had the name Katrina 22 years before that huricane struck so I feel like saying, "No, like the name derived from Kathrine." But at least it decreased the number of people who rename me, so I've come to terms with the comparison.
However, it only decreased the number of people who spell my name wrong. I still occasionally get Kathrine or Katarina to this day. Usually at Starbucks or Taco Bell. One person at Taco Bell got my name so wrong the server had to read out the number. I still don't know how that cashier heard K-a-t-h-a-l-i-e-n when I spelled out K-a-t-r-i-n-a for her. That's not even the right amount of letters. -_-
Well it's not just my last name they mess up it's also my first but it's my fault for going by the shortened Jon instead of Jonathan, so of course everyone spells it John. >.< I swear sometimes I just want to change my name to Joe Smith, let's see them get that wrong! >:D
I've actually thought of changing my name to something original like Krin but people would mess that up too, probably call me Ken. X3
