I've heard you need at least 3 and it all depends on the betta.

Actually, you need at least 4 or 5. If you get 3, then 2 of them will just gang up on the other. Not recommended.

You need a ten too and three can work but not the best.

Three is definitely not recommended. You'll need four or more, and at least a 10 gallon tank & lots of cover.

If you only have two females, you can consider splitting your tank instead if it's big enough.

I have three in a 10 right now and it's working, but only because it was 5 females in a balanced sorority and we had an illness come through. These three are used to each other. I am, however, trying to increase the fish in the tank, but am looking at non-betta tankmates. These three are actually peaceful together and I don't want to disrupt that with more female bettas just now.

We did have only 2 in a tank at one point and it was a complete bloodbath. I wouldn't recommend it.

No on the two. I made that mistake once and my poor Eugeney was completely beaten up. I would say either get more ladies and create a sorority or just split the tank into two.

If you do create a sorority make sure to have no less than 4 girls in it. Anything less and the low girl on the totem pole will get harassed constantly.

And as others have also said a 10 gallon should be minimum when creating a sorority.

I believe three would work but 5 would be better live plants and caves are breat for sorieties.
