Plants in Aquarium?

How do you keep a planted aquarium? I'm going to get some ottos as tank mates for my betta, so I was wondering how to add plants

lighting is the first thing you should look for before purchasing plants. find a 6500k light that will fit your hood (or if you dont have a hood you can simply use a table/student lamp)

Next you will want to start with lowlight plants.
These include:
anacharis
anubias
java fern
crpytocoryne
naja grass
water wisteria
java moss (and many other mosses)
water sprite
hornwort
fanwort
cabomba
brazillian pennywort
banana lily
tiger lily(sends out lily pads under lowlight)

easy floaters:
Duckweed
salvinia

dont get any plants if it's not on this list or until you've searched online to make sure that they are true aquatic plants.

Non aquatic plants include:
Lucky bamboo
aluminum plant
spider plant
pothos
peace lily
mondo grass
etc etc...
