I am doing that too one tank has 3 watts per gallon the other has about 4 watts per gallon i keep some high light plants.

Are nerites really sensitive to ammonia or something or pH. My nerites died in two days and I don't know why. My tap water does have a little bit of ammonia but I use prime and my pH is pretty high like 7.6

Probably get some duckweed soon.

Def going to have the light on less.

My plant isn't that big. It is most likely the light my ten gallon tank has no algae and that is probably because it has no light

Invertabtayes are pretty sensative to ammonia and snails prefer hard water because it helps there shells.
