Aquarium Salt

My two new boys in a divided 10 gallon tank seem to be suffering from a mild case of shipping induced fin rot. They had it when I got them but I wanted to let them settle in and see if the new surroundings and clean water would help but I see no improvement. I want to treat with aquarium salt but I don't have a heater for any QT tanks yet and it's pretty cold in my house. It would be easier to treat them in the tank but I'm not sure how to do it with the filter and plants and how to dose after the first initial. Also, I use Seachem Flourish Excel and I don't know if they will interact in a bad way.

Their water is at a constant 80 degrees. I'd like to try aquarium salt, but how much do I put in a 10 gallon and how do I dose in a running aquarium for the duration of the treatment?

Put it in a pitcher then put the water there and do a lot of extra water changes.
