Is this normal? baby betta

i just recently got a baby betta. Poor little guy definitely has swim bladder problems, but that is not worries me. I was looking at him and his gills seem red. I cant tell if its just his coloring or not. What do you guys think?
Not the best quality pic, sorry.

Is it the gills themselves.....The gills should look red in color-this is a sign of proper oxygenated blood circulation, however, they shouldn't look angry red and inflamed or pinkish, pale, brown, blue, purple.

What are you doing for the buoyancy problem, sometimes it can be due to genetic, labyrinth organ, poor care/feeding at the fish farm before he every left the fish farm. Sadly, that can end up being a long term problem and symptom may even come and go as he matures, with stress, eating...etc....

You may need to use low dose Epsom salt 1tsp/gal long term as well as retaining high levels of heat/humidity over the water.

Can you complete the sticky info sheet found at the top of this section and a pic of the gills.

His gill on the right side is angry, not so much the left. has been that way since I got him a little over a week ago. I will say he is quite active and eating like a pig.

What a cutie.....

About all you can do for an angry gill- is to improve water quality and nutrition.

What I would recommend on a 2.5gal filtered/divided tank- is twice weekly 50%...1-50% water only and 1-50% to include the substrate by vacuum or stir and dip method to maintain water quality.

If you have access to live mosquito larva-offer several rinsed several times a day and a good quality varied diet fed in small frequent meals..
