I wouldn't. Male bettas become aggressive with male bettas and other fish with long fins, you'd end up with a dead fish. Male bettas are only compatible with a few breeds of small fish and shrimp, and even then it's a gamble as some males will attack anything.
If you want a tank mate for your betta you should have a large tank (at least 10 gallons) and a back up plan to rehome the newcomer if the betta attacks it. You can read other posts on this forum to find breeds of fish that might be able to live with a male betta.
