I have come across this site many times when I am out looking around for Betta stuff so I wanted to say hi.

I currently have about 20 fish in my fish room. I had a very bad week this week as my fish room over heated and I lost about 30 fish.

One of them that I lost had just been pulled from her breeding tank after a huge spawn. I am paranoid that I will lose this spawn. I really want them to survive since I lost her.

It's a huge spawn and I am a little intimidated.

On top of all that they are free swimming a day earlier than I expected so I have no baby brine hatched. I spread around some egg yolk which is not good because it will foul the tank I know. I have microworms on their way but the guy didn't ship until a day and a half later than expected.

The cards are stacked against me but I will not give up.

You could crush up some regular food super fine to get by. Naturally, LFS sell fry food. The prepared foods are so much better now than in the old days. Of course, there is no substitute for live with fry, but since you are in a bind, I'd go with the prepared food before risking fouling the tank. Best of luck !

Hi Fishmonger, I fed a little yolk early this morning, then fed some crushed up food this afternoon. By this evening I'll have BBS to offer. I guess between it all if they wanna live they will live. I'm going to start dripping fresh water into the tub tomorrow.

The following day I will start pulling a small amount of water out then drip it in to refill.

I've always been a chicken of water changes as I have lost many fish over the years to water changes. Unfortunately, they are necessary, and the alternative is to lose them for sure due to lack of water changes. I'm going to replace water very slow but steady.

Oh yeah, started a bubbler this morning too so that the surface tension will be broken up.

News flash. I had two other tubs going as well. One had a pair of crowntails, the other a pair of fighters.

The crowntail spawned last night and I left her in until today. she is still real fat, but he has some eggs in the next. It's been close to 24 hours since they most likely started spawning so I decided to cut em off rather than risk her eating the eggs.

A small spawn is not such a bad thing anyway and she will be ready in a few weeks to try it again.

Oh yeah, don't think I mentioned. The first spawn is atleast 100 fry, could be 300 but I'm being conservative. Wow, if the ration of boys to girls is decent and I can keep them all healthy I have alot of water changes in my future.
