Is my wife underfeeding pellets?

I'm curious. We have a female betta and my wife gives her 4 pellets a day (2 pellets twice a day).
Is this underfeeding or is it about right?

That should be fine. They are notorious for acting like they're starving so be strong! LOL

I feed mine 6 a day, 3 pellets twice a day. 4 pellets should be just fine though. Like shellieca said, they always act like they're starving!

I would do 3 pellets twice a day or two in the morning and 3 at night and see how she does with that many just want to be sure she doesnt get bloated but I am sure she would not with only that many pellets.

Really depends on how big the pellets are. If they are large, feed less and vice versa. What brand are you feeding?

Remember, their stomachs are only about the size of their eyeball. In the wild they eat and eat because they don't know when their next meal will be. In captivity they get fed on a regular basis. It's up to us as betta parents to control how much they eat so they don't get sick.

I usually go about 5 max a day, one time a day feeding skipping probably 2-3 days a week. I have yet to have a sick fish on this schedule, they are actually being more active and are trying to find food. I like the more natural approach, fish don't eat daily in nature why feed them twice a day?

your girl seemed like a hyperactive one XD feeding a pellet or two more shouldnt do harm, but 4 is a good number
depends on the brand too
