Can I use this light?

It's the only 16" I can find anywhere and I figured it would be the closest thing to natural sunlight. Opinions?

Is your tank a 29? a 36 watt cfl 10,000k has a fairly high par value, in a 29 tall you may still need to run c02 so it won't become a algae factory. With high par values you step out of the low tech world & enter the realm of high tech...and that can open up a Pandoras box. But I am a self professed weenie, and I'm sure others will see no issues.

What is the brand of your tank? Some of those bulbs only work for the given brand so they can charge you more money for a stupid bulb.

It should be fine, I would match it up with your current bulb first and make sure they look the same (4 pins, same length), if not take it back as it probably won't work.

As Ao said, it will just have a different hue than 6500k. May not be as good as a 6500k, but it is better than actinic.

I'm not sure about the pins, I think it might have been two. I threw it away when I got it because it didn't work But I should have kept it. I'm going to bring the holder thing and see if they will let me test it out first.

Sounds good, I know some companies try to influence prices on their products by making their bulbs only work in their fixtures.
