Clove oil is toxic to fish, it's the most humane way to put them down. And I did go today to get a net for my drain so i wont ever have an accident like this again.

And thanks to everyone else! I'm very lucky to have went in when I did, their betta's there always seem to go really fast! And I've never seen a DT there so im assuming they just thought he was a deformed HM and put him at that low price.

Does anyone know what his coloring is?

Thanks, it was a hard decision for me to make, but ultimately, I feel it's the right thing to do.

And I think he's a bicolor with just red and blue :)

Yeah I was thinking either that or a butterfly but wasn't sure.

And yeah it definitely sounds like the right thing, if any f my animals just kept getting sick over and over I'd do the same thing

That happened to me with the second betta I had. I was also home alone and sobbing I felt so horrible. To make it worse, he was a beautiful lavender boy named Prince because his coloring made me think of the song Purple Rain. My brothers came up with a new song, purple drain, and sing it still to this day and it still makes me feel bad. The new boy is beautiful though :)

How do you know when you are doing the right thing by putting your fish at ease? I have owned many bettas in my lifetime and I have never put one out of his misery even though I wish I had. How do you know when it is time? And how do you say goodbye.
