DIY Tank/Bowl Cover

In the wild, bettas live in shallow rice paddies that sometimes stretch on for miles. At certain times of the year, these dry up leaving just puddles behind. The betta's instinct tells them to jump out of and into another puddle, using them to navigate.
This is what makes having an uncovered betta tank dangerous. In their mind, their tank is like a puddle. But what they don't realize is that jumping out will not take them to another puddle, but straight to your carpet.
Follow this tutorial below courteous of Bettanewbie60 on how to make a DIY Tank cover.

What you'll need:

• CD cases
• Super glue

The tank cover shown in the pictures was used for bettanewbie60's 2.5 gallon tank. She says she also uses the piece that holds a CD in place only for bowls, and puts a small rock on top to hold it in place.
Instructions:

1. Use a few small drops of super glue to glue together 3 parts of the CD cases as shown in the images below.
2. Let the cover sit and dry completely so there are no fumes from the glue near your fish

I searched for some sort of cover for my 1 gal bowl and could not find anything online or at the stores so I made my own. I measured the top and it was about 6.5 inches in diameter. I went to JoAnn Fabrics, found a 7" embroidery hoop for $1.50. Then I went to the hardware store and purchased fabric screening for about 85 cents. I trimmed the screening to approx 1 inch bigger than the hoop, put the fabric in place, tighted the hoop, trimmed the excess and VOILA! That's all it takes, it's lightweight and keeps my cats out and Sterl in! One nice thing is the hoops come in several sizes so you should be able to find one for the size of your bowl. I would love to hear if anyone makes one.
