New family member!

My fiance and I are thinking about getting a King, Giant, or Plakat for our 5.5 NPT and I was just curious about personalities as I've never owned a "short finned" betta before... are they just as spunky and quirky as the long fins or what?

Anyone have stories about they're shorter finned bettas they would like to share :) (I like stories)

Also, do they generally prefer more water movement? Because the filter I have right now is a tad strong for my VT

As I said, we are considering, and I also mentioned Kings and Plakats

I would take the Plakat. From what I have read Kings are more agressive and harder to care for. So if you only have a 5.5 please choose a Plakat.

I do have a 10 gallon available, but I'm planning on using it of a small sorority...

anyway, my initial question was about personalities and filter flow, though I will take into consideration that some kings can tend to be more aggressive, I would like more opinions on the subject

All Domestic Bettas prefer low current Sponge filters are great. If I remember right Giant and King are the same.

I am almost 100% sure that kings are not the same as giants

While those links do provide some good information, they do not address the king vs giant issue. I've done some research myself and most say that "kings" are half-giants, bettas that carry a giant gene but do not express it to the full size of an actual giant

As a side note (because I know that you are working on your social skills)
Just posting links with no other text or information about the link you are posting can be seen as rude. You might try wording posts in which you would like to include links like this:

Here is an interesting article that I think applies to this topic/situation (post link)
or
This is a site that I default to when I have questions about fish keeping (post link)

Posting links this way makes your post seem more personal and may inspire more people to read them as well as providing general background information for that website
