Broken Decoration

Whenever I first rescued Lil Sano, I went and got him a larger tank with a decoration. It is a little sign that says "no fishing." I thought he would enjoy that.
Well, the other say as I was cleaning the little sign, it cracked along the front of the post. I was able to twist it back together, but you can still see the crack. Inside of the post is a medal rod that holds the whole thing together. The rod does not show when the sign is twisted together. Could it still be dangerous to put it in his tank? No sharp edges are exposed. There is a small crack is all.

I think the only thing I would worry about is the metal rod might start to rust now since water can now seep in though the crack.
