As far as more specific heater brands go, I would still advise against the Tetra present strongly(you've definitely been lucky carbon! You're one of the very few people I've heard of who those heaters have actually worked for). Based on my research and the experiences of others, about 9/10 times they don't heat the water past 76 degrees at the most, provided you get one that actually works, and they tend to burn out and need replacing VERY quickly as opposed to other, more expensive adjustable brands.
Over all though most fully submersible, adjustable heaters with a thermostat IMO/E generally get the job done about the same so so long as the heater meets those requirements, you should be good. A lot of people really like the Hydor Theo brand, though I have personally never used it myself. Personally, I'm a fan of the Aqueon Pro and Petcos brand, both of which have proved to be very reliable for me in the past.
