Recomend A paint for back wall

id like to paint the back wall of my aquarium black, on the outside only of course, anyone know what kind of paint is safe and will stick to glass and stay on there? i just want to get a small cheap tub of paint,nothing more than 3 or 4 dollars if possible,its a 14 gallon tank,ive no experience with painting glass or fishtanks

i think a home depot paint would be suitable,as its not on the inside of the tank,i just dont know what one is cheap and sticks best to the surface and wont look streaky

when you go to Home Depot just ask for the best spray paint for glass. They will know.

I used craft glitter paint and it would scratch off easily if picked at.

I've used Krylon Fusion spray for my 20gallon, also have another site for large aquariums and use same.. I used matt finish, so not so much glare.
There is a new one called Krylon Fusion Hammered..maybe cool to check out..if you have a paint store, or ace or true hardware, they also carry Krylon.

this spray paint will make a nice easy finish? how many coats would it take to make a nice dark black finish,and do i need to add any coat of anything over it to make it shine or pop or stay on there long term without chipping

Painting a tank wall black can cause a mirror effect. Make sure your fish can handle that without undue stress.

Make sure you take your time to apply the spray, key to spray in even strokes from side to side extending past the tank, dont rush it. stop and look at your application and then you can see where you need to re-spray.. it takes two to three apps, depending on size of tank..
Please make sure all surfaces you DO NOT want paint on, are taped off, so nothing can seep through..you can't rely on newspaper only..use plastic even cardboard to help seal.

So far my betta hasn't been too affected by background paint..The tank is planted and filter, decor keep him occupied. Before him had other species (cichlid) :)
