Which Tank is Better???

I've narrowed my list of which tanks I'm looking at tomorrow down to two. Which would you choose??

One is 1 gallon, comes with the light, filter, air pump.
One is 2.5 gallons, comes with filter and light.

Do I really need an air pump? The 2.5 gallon is 50% off which brings it down to about $20, but then I'll need more gravel and decorations for it than I would for the 1 gallon.

I was set on the 1 gallon until I found the 2.5 one... It's going to be for a female betta, and maybe a ghost shrimp...

Also, how many decorations would you put in each???

i would get the 2.5. i think they look better, provides more room for you fish to swim around. an air pump is not necessary.

Go with the 2.5 extra conditioner is never a bad thing to have on hand

definitely go with the 2.5 gallon. In my 2.5 I have two silk plants and also a cave type thing....I'm thinking of adding another plant. If you go with the 2.5 I would say get at least one silk or live plant and some sort of hiding place. And no the air pump is not necessary :)

I will say though that I have the mini bow 2.5 and the filter is pretty strong so you'll probably have to baffle it for your betta friend.....otherwise it's a great tank!

The air pump will run the filter. if you don't plan to cycle the tank then you don't need a filter or an air pump in either one of them. Also, you will want to replace the light in the 2.5g tank with a small compact spiral bulb, as the bulb that comes with it will make the tank too hot. Dunno what the bulb is like in the 1 gallon.

I'd go with the 2.5 gallon and either discard or replace the filter and replace the light.
