Possibly not, google walstad planted aquarium and see if yours is close to that. Usually, they have dirt, gravel on top and tons and tons of plants. A true Walstad aquarium, depending on size can go months to a year without needing a water change. (My cousin has a 55 gallon one and does a 25% water change once a year - just to be on the safe side - I don't have a picture of it as he lives in another state)

sainthogan- I have a smaller 1 gallon tank I was going to isolate him in until he was better. I just bought him aquarium salt today. That should work just as well shouldn't it? I also bought heaters and water conditioner. Should I hold off on the last two until he's well enough to go back in his normal tank? The man at the store said I should hold off feeding him for a while. Is that correct too?
