aww, I'm so sorry =( I know how you feel about people thinking you are weird for being so attached, but people who don't have bettas don't understand.
My husband thought I was weird about loving him so much and baby talking to him until he noticed that he has a unique personality. He swept the living room and Junior stared at him, I shook the bag of pellets and he wiggled so crazily and I just said "junior baby, where's my baby hiding?" and he came out of his plant to come stare at me. Now my husband understands that bettas are unique and curious beings. I like to think they love us like any other pet b/c I love him just like any other pet. I will be devastated when Junior passes (prays he doesn't, he's still a baby). Give your new bettas the love you had for your other one and you will fall in love with them as they will you =)
