Looks like an explosion occurred

I came home from work and found my 10g planted tank in ruins. Soil everywhere, plants uprooted, the whole nine yards. I'm assuming a giant anaerobic gas bubble erupted. The question now is how to deal with the aftermath.

Can I take my critters out, take out like 80% of the water, rearrange the soil/sand, plant lots more stems, fill it back up and put my guys back in? Or is there a better idea?

yep you can do that, though if you dont want soil everywhere it may be worth starting from scratch and replacing the substrate

Thanks for the reply! I'd actually rather do it your way, but was unsure if I would lose anything beneficial by starting over from scratch. Is there a process, or can I really just drain and start over?

If you have a filter going than throw it in a bucket with tank water so you don't lose your bb. You will lose it on the surface of the tank etc. If you are worried about it you can always pick up a bottle of Seachem stability. Otherwise drain and redo
