Water change question

I recently got my first betta fish and he's currently living in an unfiltered 1 gallon tank until my Christmas break. I'm planning on doing a 50% water change today. If I'm only changing half of his water, do I still need to condition it?
If so, I use Aqua Culture's Betta Care Kit and it uses tablets to treat the water. Is a whole tablet too much for changing half a gallon or should I just cut the tablet in half?

You always need to condition all water that you add to your tank. I've never used tablets before so I don't know about that. Just read the instructions on the package, maybe?

It's probably a good idea to get water conditioner in a bottle so you can add a certain number of drops to however much water you are changing. It's only a couple of dollars. Some people recommend certain brands but I've always used the walmart brand and it has worked well for me.

Just keep up with your water changes and you will have a very healthy fish :)

We're going to Walmart tomorrow and I'm going to buy some bottled conditioner to replace the tablets that I have. Thank you AyalaCookiejar. :)

Most water conditioners will tell you to dose for the full amount of the tank, even if only removing 25%. At least thats'd what I have been doing the past 2 years. too much conditioner should not cause a problem if you do OD
