White isn't a good idea in tattoos because it tends to turn yellow over time. Also, green is the hardest color to get removed. So a red or blue betta would be a good idea.
What size is the tattoo going to be? Since it's going to be on your ribs (meaning OUCH) you might want to schedule multiple smaller sessions so you can get the outline and scolor layers done at separate times. When you get a color tattoo, the artist will first do the outline, then the shading layers, then the highlights and then the color. For each of these things they go over the same area, which gets really painful on the underlying tissue. Sorry if you already know this, I would just be hesitant to get all that on my rib area in one sitting.
I would find some photos of bettas in poses and tail types and colors you really like and have the artist use them as a reference.
