Is there anything in your lease prohibiting you from having it in your apartment? I know at the place I used to rent we were restricted from having a tank over a certain size because of the potential water damage. Just something else to think about.

If there is nothing I would check with your landlord. My parents own apartments and they don't mind fish tanks, but some may and it would be better to find out now rather than later.

Oh yes. Especially since we'd likely stay here for more than a year. And if I can't start this tank, I'd rather let someone else enjoy it. It's already sat empty for atleast a year.
