New tank, help!

Just upgraded my betta from a 0.5g to a 3.5g and I am wondering what type of water changes I should do? What is the easiest way. Also, too small for tank mates? Thanks!

Here is a helpful link on this forum by oldfishlady about water changes: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=115758

I would say it's too small for tank mates unless you are doing one or two snails or a few shrimp.

I just wanted one shrimp. Just skeptical. But thank you for the information and forum!

One shrimp should be fine, just make sure it's big enough that your fish won't eat it or try to eat it. I have a 5 gallon tank and I do 50% water changes using a tube to siphon the water and then a turkey baster to suck out the yucky stuff. I use a turkey baster instead of a gravel vacuum because I have plants that I don't want to come loose from the gravel (my female does that enough on her own, she seems to think it's fun to dig up her plants)

Yeah I was thinking of buying a gravel vacuum. I checked out the ghost shrimp at petsmart and they were quite small. I will keep checking. Thanks!
