Hey guys i'm new to this site, just registered, first time posting too. I'm new to fish keeping and i've recently bought a 21 gallon aquarium for a betta which seems happy with hiding places, plants and different kind of food but the problem is I noticed a bug in it and i dont know what to do! Yes, dragon flies are one of the few insects that can be dangerous to betta fish, particularly fry and small ones. The larva typically eat mosquito larva, but are quite vicious and will attack anything they think they can eat. Your fish's fins would be prime targets.

Those things are gnarly! Get them out of your tank!!! They will stalk & prey upon any fish that can fit between their hooks.

Aww, that was just a little damselfly, he wouldn't have been big enough to do much damage. You can take it out, wonder how it got in there though..

3 of my tank hoods have those little slots for heaters and filters. Bettas need the direct opening to fresh air so they can breathe. I'm sure that damsel-in-distress-fly got through one of those slots..
