Betta tank too hot!

Hey guys. I have two male bettas in a 3.5 gallon tank along with a heat stick and and a filter. I usually leave the heatstick on when I leave for school however today I came home from school and the water was unusually warm. I constantly take out water and put cold water to keep the temperature reasonable for my bettas. Should I leave my heatstick on during school or should I take another approach? Please HELP!!!

I would get a new heater....one that's adjustable. That's the problem with the nonadjustable ones....it's almost always too hot or too cold. The Hydor Theo 25w is the one I use with my tanks 5gal and under

Thermometer is your best bet. You can't judge by touch...sometimes it feels warm, other times it feels cool, touch is just not safely accurate. Too much flux in temp is harmful. When you get a thermometer 78-80 degrees is best.

thermometer and an adjustable heater :0 though the preset ones are cheap, and convenient, they do not always last plus they may malfunction (over heat a tank thus boiling your fish, or never work thus making fishcicles.)

A 25 watt heater works... You can find them online, in stores, etc. Heck, if there is someone on here willing to send you a heater in the mail I am sure someone will!

If I is too hot I recommend an adjustable heater or one especially made for bettas. When I don't have my heater on and it's too hot I usually put an ice pack beside the tank for a few minutes and check if the temp got colder later on. And if you don't have a thermometer in your tank I would get one. Good luck

Get a glass intank thermometer along with the heater. They're notoriously not accurate and you can't judge by touch.

I got a heater from a HomeGoods store in the kitchen section. They are pretty accurate and I keep it separate for my fish.
