Okay... I'm not sure, but maybe you should get plastic plants because I've never had that problem

What kind of plants do you have? Some plants are better at taking in ammonia than others such as anacharis and duckweed. What kind of stock do you have in your tank, it could be that you are overstocked or something has died.
