Penguin 100 bio wheel question?

I believe this has a carbon filter. Should I switch it out for something different? Sponge or biomedia? On my way to the store now and going to setup my tank! Yay!

I have one of those and in my opinion they are way too powerful, the flow is really strong but that's not the question so from what I've seen you could use bonded media (marineland), I take out the filter and keep the plastic and tie the bonded media to it and you'll have plenty of space between your new diy cartridge and the biowheel to put some fluval biomax.

I just got a tank with one too, and it seems to make a strong current. Any way to slow the flow down easily?

I ended up with a different filter/tank because it was cracked out of the box, but I think people use a water bottle or sponge to baffle the outflow.
