Unusual slimy fluffy stuff in tank? PLEASE help!

My betta has recently become ill with velvet, he still eats and stuff... But since he became sick i have noticed this... White fluffy/cottony wispy stuff coating my fake plant and ornament. And in some cases - the tank walls and corners.
Can someone please tell me if this is harmless at all to my fish?
I've done full water changes and scrubbed out the entire tank and ornaments but within a few days it just comes back! I have no idea what it is and I've found nothing on the Internet.
When I wipe some away, it breaks apart and floats around looking all wispy and fluffy, and makes my tank look dirty when it should be clean.

I also read that it may be over feeding, but this is definitely not the case with my fish. I feed him 1 pellet a day.

Help would be very much appreciated!

It sounds like an algae bloom. I have it in my tank too. It's generally not harmful.

I had the same problem, when I first added my Betta to his new 10 Gallon home. But just do a couple water changes and scrub it off should be fine. Never got it since then.

I have been having that problem in my new tank on all of the new decorations. I just take them out and scrub them. It may come back a few times but should go away eventually. It isn't harmful as far as I know but I would try not to let it take over your tank.

I've tried scrubbing it all and the person I spoke to at a fish shop told me not to do frequent 100% water changes as it takes away the good bacteria :/

Do you have a filter in your tank? I've had to scrub that stuff off of three of my new decorations and one of them I had to do twice, so if it comes back just scrub it again. Mine seemed not to touch the tank, substrate or any of the older decorations at all.

Slime mold - common in new aquariums.. as mentioned before, keep cleaning it off and once your tank becomes well established, it should go away.
