I think it's more because we aren't hugely populated so the market for everything is more limited meaning prices become higher. I know our wages and that are higher but the cost of living is also pretty steep.

Not sure how much it is over there, but a bottle of Seachem Prime 500ml for example is generally in the region of $30-$40. One store I have found sells it at $17. But the shipping bounces it back up to the $30 mark and makes it not worth it unless you are getting more than one bottle.

UUURRG I don't like Canada!!! Shipping is pricey and all the betta fish I can find need transhippers (overseas) or don't ship to Canada. The person I used to get fish from her SITE NO LONGER EXISTS!!! D: I need an HM or HMPK female ;( and perhaps a giant female. ;(

I am po'd at another forum I'm on, concerning fish. They are so incredibly snotty on there, even the mods are rude and condescending to new members. Yeah, some new members are willfully ignorant, but many are just trying to learn how to keep fish responsibly. And, established members like to rip into anyone who makes a mistake, on any topic, be it fish-related or not (I had to step in on a thread where people were bashing a woman for NOT harshly punishing her six year old daughter for not cleaning up her room by herself). I was ripped for suggesting that some bettas can handle an airstone turned way down (like a sponge filter). Because, you know, there are NO BETTAS ANYWHERE that like that and how stupid it is I even brought it up. Too bad I had a betta who liked the bubbles, and my current giant HMPKs don't mind the sponge filters at all.

God, I hate places/people like that. I am considering writing a letter to the board owner before I leave...it probably won't change anything, but maybe they need a reminder to quit being as*hats. Or turn the board into a closed community where you can only get it if you have the proper haughty tone and nasty disposition.

I know. And the fact that it happened at an elementary school; it is crushing me that much more.
