new betta for my son

just got my son a betta,hes purple so i dont know if its male or female.
we have gold fish as well.I feel i want to save all the bettas at the store.Just wanted tolet you know about my betta.I will take good care of him.I am planning to get more so i can help them. :D

Just be sure you don't keep them together...and NOT with the goldfish!
Bettas requie at least a 2.5 gallon tank each with an adjustable flow filter unit and a small heater as they are tropical fish and require a constant temperature of 78-80 degrees F. and regular ( like every other day) 25% water changes..you can get these products specifically for small aquariums at your LFS or online..Thank you for your rescue efforts and Good Luck with your new Betta..you may also check out the Betta Fish FAQ for info on care,feeding etc...very good info there.

Males have very long fins, and females not so much.

Also males cannot live with other males.
