Algae

So I have a 2 gallon filtered tank for my betta. Just recently I discovered brown algae on the ornaments I had inside. I had taken everything out and cleaned it. Now it has come back and has spread like wild fire in there. How do I get rid of it? Thnx

Sounds like diatoms-Diatoms are normal in newly setup tanks and should resolve on there own in time or as the tank matures-Until then, wipe them off and vacuum it out along with a 50% weekly water change.

When you have diatoms show up in mature tanks-it is usually due to old light bulbs, light too close to the water line, lights either on too long or not long enough, water quality and/or poor filter media care-to name the most common causes in mature tanks.
